Can I change a check at any Banco Popular branch?

You can change a Banco Popular check, whether from your account or not, in any of our branches. Certain restrictions apply in Centros de Negocios Personales (branches located in supermarkets and department stores). 

If your check is for an amount greater than RD$20,000.00 and you are not the originator, you will have to go to a traditional bank branches.

Can I change a check of any amount?

Yes, you can at any one of our traditional branches. At the Centros de Negocios Personales you will only be able to change checks of up to RD$20,000.00 if you are not the owner of the account, and up to RD$40,000.00, if you are.

Can I change a check from any other bank?

You can only change checks drawn on Banco Popular accounts. You can deposit checks from other banks in your account, and later make a withdrawal.

Can I handle my business accounts with the Popular debit card?

Business accounts do not issue debit cards. This option is exclusive for personal accounts.

DOLLAR SAVINGS ACCOUNTS

What are the advantages of saving in dollars instead of pesos?

The main advantage is the stability of the dollar’s value. You can keep your money secure while receiving interest payments in dollars.

Can I use my dollar account in other countries?

Your dollar account is for exclusive use in the Dominican Republic. However, you will be able to receive dollar transfers to this account from any of our correspondent banks around the world.
